Isaiah's Call | Our Story

when we prayed that God would use our lives and all we had for His kingdom. The Lord answered our prayers and invited us to trust him. We chose to listen and obey and embarked on a journey that has stretched our faith and drawn us closer to Him in utter dependence.

After a two-year period of testing and wrestling with the Lord, seeking wise counsel, and spending a weekend in prayer and fasting, we took the giant leap of faith and obediently sold our home in Whitby. Although we did not have it all figured out, the boxes were not all checked, and we could not see the finish line. We followed the vision He implanted in our hearts by purchasing land in Port Perry, to develop it as God saw fit.

We began building our home as well as a place for spiritual retreat. This was a difficult transition in our lives because of the sacrifice involved. We faced many trials in which God asked us to let go of the control in our lives. We had to trust in Him by giving up everything that was comfortable in order to be completely reliant on Him. During this time, the Lord gave us Isaiah 55 as a biblical anchor. We needed this promise when the hurdles to fulfill his calling seemed overwhelming. God continually showed us that He was faithful to supply all our needs, and He was with us every step of the way. Throughout the seasons of this journey, we also had to learn to take time to rest, renew, restore, and return. These same invitations are open to everyone who seeks Him. That is why we named the retreat – Isaiah’s Call.

Isaiah’s Call is a place of retreat. It is an invitation to come, be still, and encounter the true living Creator; the one who made you, loves you, and wants to be in authentic profound relationship with you. Wherever you lead - in your home, in full-time ministry, a lay leader in a local church or para-church, in a school, or in secular employment, we believe that the only way to be strong and effective for the long term is to develop spiritual disciplines that nurture and sustain your soul.

Our prayer is that the surroundings of Isaiah’s Call, will encourage you to slow down and encounter God as He seeks to encounter you. Wherever you are in the story that God is writing on your heart and in your life, we invite you to come to Isaiah’s Call.
